TAIYO SELLS 42MW GREENFIELD SOLAR PROJECT TO INFINIS SOLAR DEVELOPMENTS LIMITED

Taiyo Power & Storage, Kajima Partnership’s joint venture with Low Carbon Alliance, has sold its 42 Megawatts (MW) greenfield solar photovoltaic project in Swansea, South Wales at "Ready-to-Build" stage, to Infinis Solar Developments Limited.

Parc Solar Canewydd is expected to produce 43.8 GWh of renewable energy per year and will be co-located with a 46MW Battery Energy Storage System. The project, which will be built across 190 acres of land, will help power approximately 22,000 homes and offset approximately 8,445 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. With planning consent obtained in Q4 2024, the scheme is expected to start producing energy by Q4 2026.

Parc Solar Canewydd supports the Welsh Government's target to generate 100% of the nation’s electricity demand from renewable sources. The scheme will also allow for continued agricultural production via sheep grazing among solar panels, and safeguard the existing local shop and business.

Since its inception in 2021, Taiyo has been developing a portfolio of ground-mounted solar and battery energy storage facilities across the UK. This initiative aims to align with the UK Government's pledge to achieve a net zero carbon footprint by 2050 and to fulfil Kajima's objective to develop 3.5GW of renewable energy projects across Europe over the next five years.
