Genr8 Kajima Regeneration Ltd have been appointed as development managers to support Knowsley Council’s transformation plans for Huyton. The council have ambitious plans for the redevelopment, which include the creation of a civic area, commercial district, a village green, build to rent and significant improvements to the high street and station gateway area. The project will generate a £50.8 million boost to the local economy, whilst also providing greater choice for residents and visitors, attracting more businesses into the centre and creating approximately 1,700 jobs.
The 50/50 joint venture between Kajima and Genr8, leading regeneration developers, has a growing portfolio with projects including Rochdale Riverside, a 200,00 sq ft retail and leisure scheme and Newcastle campus for Ageing and Vitality, the transformation of a 29-acre former general hospital site into a world-class centre for research and innovation in ageing and vitality.
Kajima’s Regeneration Director, Kate Pix commented: “We are delighted to have been selected by Knowsley Council to deliver their vision for Huyton. The proposals are ambitious and will transform the town centre to create an attractive location for residents, visitors and businesses, and will be the catalyst for further regeneration throughout the borough.”
