KAJIMA PARTNERSHIPS AWARDED BEST OPERATIONAL PROJECT AT THE PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP AWARDS

In May 2023, Kajima Partnerships took home the award for Best Operational Project at the prestigious Public-Private Partnership Awards. The recognition comes from the exceptional work delivered through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) at two secondary schools, Failsworth Academy and The Radclyffe School, in Oldham.

Launched under PFI in 2008, the development of the two schools aimed to provide quality education in two culturally diverse areas of Oldham. Despite encountering operational challenges, the project has since become a striking example of the potential of PPP when the public and private sectors collaborate effectively.

Numerous instances of successful partnership working have been highlighted throughout the project, involving staff, students, parents, and the Local Authority. One such initiative is the community fridge, launched in 2022 at Failsworth Academy and opened to the whole community. Kajima contributed £1,750 towards initial food stocks and has an ongoing fund of £500 per year for initiatives supporting the schools.

In addition to the community fridge, the school has implemented a uniform bank to redistribute and reuse uniforms that are no longer required, saving them from going to landfill. These collaborations have improved students' educational environment, allowing them to participate in sustainable projects and deliver significant social value to the broader community.

The Best Operational Project award is a testament to everyone involved in the project's unwavering commitment and hard work and Kajima Partnerships' dedication to fostering positive relationships between the public and private sectors. The initiative serves as a benchmark for future PPP projects.

Kajima Partnerships was additionally shortlisted in two other categories at the awards, including Best SPV Management Company of the Year and Best Healthcare Project for Springfield Village, the redevelopment of Springfield University Hospital.
