Kajima’s partnership to provide sustainable social housing across the Republic of Ireland reaches completion

The homes have been delivered in eight schemes across six counties in the Republic of Ireland, as part of the Government’s Social Housing PPP Programme which aims to deliver around 1,500 new homes in total.

Construction works commenced on the project in November 2019 and continued throughout 2020-2021, despite a number of challenges presented by the COVID pandemic. A phased delivery of the housing units took place between Q2 and Q4 of 2021, with all units now being handed over to the respective local authorities. 361 families have so far moved into their new homes and are benefiting from the scheme’s new, quality accommodation. The remaining tenants are now set to move into their homes after Christmas.

Kajima now looks forward to continuing our collaborative relationship with all partners and project stakeholders for the upcoming Bundle 3 of the Irish Governments Social Housing PPP Programme in 2022.

The project completion follows Kajima’s recent announcement to deliver its first-ever build-to-rent development in the region. The scheme, which obtained planning permission in August 2021, plans to deliver 260 apartments, of which over a third will be social and affordable homes.
